Columbia Sportswear came to PRG with the need of developing a footwear display to highlight multiple shoes. The fixture needed to be primarily made out of plywood and align with their current fixture system. The fixture also needed to resemble a “tree”. Lastly, the display needed to be easy to assemble in the field by store associates.

  • Solution

A tree shaped display was engineered using components such as roots, a trunk and branches. An initial domestic production run of 150 units was produced. Columbia has placed these displays both in the US and internationally. Wood and metal finishes were spot on and allowed Columbia to utilize as a supporting footwear display in retail environments where other fixtures already existed. Due to success, Columbia has discussed an additional order to support retailer demand.

A tree-shaped display with roots, a trunk and branches highlight and draw attention to each shoe. The tree was sourced and stained to match Columbia's current fixture system using raw plywood to ensure cohesiveness, with the addition of a metal Columbia logo sign powder-coated in the brand's signature blue. Pulling it all together with precise engineering, pre-drilled holes and one uniform screw helped simplify the assembly process.

  • How/Process

PRG went through extensive internal processes to match both the wood stain finish and sheen, as well as the powder coat on the metal sign. This was key to program success as these fixtures would complement other displays with these unique finishes. PRG engineers also ensured minimal parts could be easily assembled, while still allowing the display to ship via small parcel carriers. 1 uniform piece of hardware was used throughout to ensure ease of assembly.
